Performance Evaluation of New Modulation Technique, OTSM, in Underwater Acoustic Channel

Abstract
The orthogonal time sequencey multiplexing (OTSM) scheme is a newly proposed modulation scheme for 6G wireless communication system that uses the Walsh Hadamard transform (WHT) with lower complexity than the Orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS). There is a considerable literature survey for the OTFS modulation scheme in the underwater channel, but the OTSM modulation technique has not been tested in the underwater channel. So, this work considers analyzing the performance of the OTSM scheme in the underwater channel with the complex Gaussian noise using single tap time and single tap time-frequency domain MMSE equalization. We then evaluate the comparison performance in terms of the bit error rate of the OTSM with the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and OTFS based underwater systems using these equalizations. We noticed that the OTSM-based UWAC performs better with the time domain single tap MMSE equalizer and gives almost the same as the OTFS scheme but at much lower computational complexity and outperforms OFDM in both domains.
