Abstract

Results for a large sample of managers indicated that Black Peer, Subordinate, and Supervisor raters assigned more favorable ratings to managers of their own race. White Supervisor raters showed the same effect, but White Peers did not and results for White Subordinates were equivocal. Rating fairness issues are addressed.
