Vehicle routine and scheduling problems are defined. Application of the vehicle scheduling problem to the scheduling of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) is discussed. A mathematical programming formulation of the AGV scheduling problem is presented. Due to the computational complexity of this formulation an efficient heuristic has been designed. Computational results, together with an example are presented.
