Abstract
The Off-plane Grating Rocket Experiment (OGRE) is a suborbital rocket mission designed to obtain a highresolution soft-X-ray spectrum of Capella. The nominal payload hosts a next generation X-ray mirror assembly in the Wolter-I prescription, an array of electron-multiplying CCDs (EM-CCDs) and modules of blazed Xray reflection gratings with radial groove profiles. OGRE is designed to demonstrate the integration of these advanced X-ray technologies and flight-test them for the very first time. However, as next generation X-ray mirror technology undergoes continued development, the OGRE team will fly a pathfinder rocket that will utilize an existing mirror assembly in preparation for the nominal mission. This pathfinder flight, referred to as Pathfinder OGRE or OGRE-P, will demonstrate X-ray reflection gratings for high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy and yield valuable insights into the OGRE payload systems.
