Using building permit data, the paper examines capital investment patterns in the metropolitan area over the last seven years. Specifically, the paper disaggregates building permits by commercial, industrial, single family, and multiple family use and: examines the extent to which such developments are concentrating in planned regional centers, town centers, main streets and transportation corridors. Such: an examination reveals the extent to which the transformation of the metropolitan area: has already begun and will serve as a baseline for future research.
