Abstract
This paper presents certain basic features of multirate nonlinear systems. The use of transfer functions, a common tool in the analysis of multirate linear systems, is replaced by operator techniques. This approach reveals how to extend basic notions such as polyphase components and noble identities to the nonlinear case. Three applications, namely filter banks, fractionally spaced equalizers, and digital predistorters are discussed.
