Abstract
We use the Space Weather Modeling Framework in the Geospace configuration to simulate a theta aurora event observed on Earth on 01-10-1997. We run the simulation with solar wind parameters between 01-09-1997 22:00 UT to 01-10-1997 4:00 UT, available from OMNIweb. The simulation results are from two simulation domains. The first domain is the MHD global magnetosphere, which contains 3-dimensional MHD results. The second domain is from the Ionospheric Electrodynamics domain, which contains 2-dimensional electrodynamic potential solver results. The data is used to analyze the magnetospheric configuration and ionospheric response during the theta aurora event.
