Abstract
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are a group of man-made organic chemicals linked to various adverse human health effects, including cancer, immune system suppression, and neurotoxicity. To replicate the average PCB profile found in human brain tissues from 72 healthy donors, an Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias PCB Mixture (ADRD mixture) was prepared using 4 Aroclors (5% Aroclor 1242, 19% Arolcor 1248, 30% Aroclor 1254, 32% Aroclor 1260) and 2 specific PCB congeners (8% PCB28 and 6% PCB160) by mass percentage. This dataset includes the mass profiles of the 4 Aroclors adopted from the previous publication (Frame et al., 1996; Schulz et al., 1989) and the synthesized ADRD mixture. The ADRD mixture was characterized by using a PCB congener-specific analysis method with gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS-MS) in the multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode(Li et al., 2022). The mass transition method setting and the corresponding raw data acquired from GC-MS-MS instrument are also included.
