- Public Abstract (ETD)
The final product of this recording project is a high-quality recording of solo concert organ works of Aaron David Miller (b. 1972), a prolific composer, prize-winning improviser, and gifted organist. The American Organist labelled Miller as one of the “finest organists playing today”. The publication further described him as exhibiting “great expertise”, his performances as displaying “amazing versatility”, and his organ improvisations as “imaginative”.
This project features the works Dr. Miller has self-published on his website between 2010 and 2020, excluding the compositions that he has performed himself for an album. The works included on this project are Sanctus (2019), Toccata on WACHET AUF (Transcription, 2017), Fantasia on a Theme of Gustav Holst (2016), The Cathedral (2016), Fanfare for a New Century (2015), Habanera (2015), Haunted Divertimento (2012), and Chorale Fantasy on LOBE DEN HERREN (2010). It was recorded on the 2010 Ruffatti organ in the Betty and Kenneth Hawkins Centennial Chapel at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL.
