- Public Abstract (ETD)
In this dissertation, we present a generalized intelligent and immersive framework to augment the information systems on any domain. The framework enables the realization of a futuristic vision of a voice-controlled assistant with immersive capabilities to create the next-generation information systems that can be intuitively accessed from any device via the internet. The results of this dissertation serve as a step to achieve a complete solution for domain-specific artificial intelligences.
The framework is developed as a smart and integrated knowledge generation and communication system powered by artificial intelligence and immersive technologies. The methodology is presented for a virtual expert that can deduce the domain-specific knowledge desired by a human out of its natural language context and generate the result automatically and instantaneously by finding and utilizing the appropriate data resources. In addition to providing required knowledge, virtual and augmented reality solutions are utilized in order to dynamically create real-world locations simulated with historical, current, forecasted, and hypothetical natural events and data resources. The integration of intelligent and immersive functionalities constitutes a unique platform for knowledge generation and communication with the purposes of decision-making, training, and education.
