Background: Covid-19 brought on many new challenges to the medical field. One of these challenges was the increase in demand for utilization of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to preserve the lives of individuals suffering from respiratory failure caused by Covid-19. The purpose of this case report is to provide insight into the day-to-day progression of upright mobilization of a patient requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to properly oxygenate their body while recovering from Covid-19 infection. Case Description: A 30-year-old female who was infected with Covid-19 while 28 weeks pregnant Intervention: Treatment sessions were performed 5 day/week as appropriate. Emphasis was placed on improving functional outcomes such as bed mobility, transfers, and walking. Outcome Measures: The Inpatient Basic Mobility Screen & Gait and Mobility Assessment were two functional scales utilized throughout this plan of care. Discussion: Early and safe mobilization of a patient being treated via ECMO is crucial for their recovery.
