This recording project features seven pieces 21st century pieces for solo cello by women composers: Sit and Dance, by Molly Joyce; Resolves, by Rain Worthington; Veiled, by Niloufar Nourbakhsh; A Thousand Tongues, by Missy Mazzoli; SEVEN, by Andrea Casarrubios; Shadow Lines, by Gity Razaz; and Suite for Cello, by Natalie Klouda. By selecting these pieces, a high quality, professional recording will be made accessible to those looking to expand their repertoire and discover new works.
Additional resources and databases, along with other relevant projects, are reviewed in this document. This paper discusses the composers' backgrounds and gives descriptions of each work, along with the recording process and project impacts. Accompanying this paper are recordings of each of the seven pieces, performed by the author.
