Abstract
In recent years, music of Latin American composers has found its way into the realm of classical music performance in and outside of the United States. Performance of this music has led to an expansion of exceptional works within the classical music catalog. The same holds true for the repertory of the classical saxophone. The goal of this recording project is to help recognize, promote, and perform Latin American saxophone music in the United States and beyond. The selected works contain unique rhythmic references and musical characteristics that pay musical homage to specific regions of their respective countries. This document discusses these characteristics as well as the recording process for this project.
