Background: The purpose of this case is to highlight management of an individual with Pusher Syndrome to restore mobility. Case description: A 62-year-old male who suffered both a stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI) leading to a variety of impairments including pusher syndrome. Interventions included reeducating patient on “normal” position, reshaping environment, and facilitating weight shifts onto their less involved side. Outcomes: Increased patient’s functional mobility through his 22 day stay from dependent transfers to moderate assist w/ scoot pivot, trailing standing, and improving static seating from dependent to contact guard assist. Discussion: There are many techniques that can be used to help pushing behavior in patients but further randomized clinical trials are needed to find best practice interventions.
