Abstract
Eight papers examine group phenomena. Lee Freese and Peter J. Burke focus on persons, identities, and social interaction. Thomas J. Fararo and Norman P. Hummon consider discrete event simulation and theoretical models in sociology. Nan Lin explores action, social resources, and the emergence of social structure. Michael J. Lovaglia examines the relationship between power and status. Barry Markovsky and Edward J. Lawler present a new theory of group solidarity. Jacob M. Rabbie and Hein F. M. Lodewijkx discuss conflict and aggression. D. H. Judson and L. N. Gray present a case study in systems isomorphy, analyzing decision-making in social networks through coherent structure theory and Cecilia Ridgeway and Lynn Smith-Lovin explore structure culture, and interaction. Contributors are mainly sociologists. Markovsky, Heimer, and O'Brien are at the University of Iowa. No index.
