Abstract
Injury is a leading cause of death, hospitalization, and emergency department visits among children in the United States and across the globe. Therefore, pediatric injury prevention plays an important role in improving the health and safety of children in the home environment and beyond. This article provides empirical findings from behavioral science to inform caregivers on ways to protect children from both unintentional and intentional injuries. The article concludes with five keys to successfully create a safe environment for children.
