Abstract
This article offers a succinct overview of Polish phonology. The discussion focuses on three areas of interests: segment inventories, syllable structure and selected phonological rules. The article is organized as follows. Section Inventories presents the inventory of underlying segments in Polish, focusing on its hard and soft consonants, and the so-called fleeting vowels, yers. Section Syllable Structure presents syllable structure and permissible clusters. Section Phonological Rules analyses the most important phonological rules. Section Conclusion concludes the article.
