Abstract
This report introduces an adaptive HR (Infinite Impulse Response) filter with the escalator structure which realizes Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization procedure. Also some existing adaptive algorithms are discussed. Especially we compare the performance of the adaptive HR filter with the escalator structure to that of with the tapped-delay-line structure, which was developed by Feintuch. The comparison is done with respect to the speed of convergence in a system identification problem via computer simulation.
