Life is experienced in fragmented layers that construct the known reality around us. Childhood is the first venture everyone explores as an expansive series of moments that define ourselves for the countless years to come. Some hold these moments close to their hearts, while others are forced to venture into the transition of adulthood and thereafter from a point of stunted adolescence. I explore these anomalous narratives through a distorted lens and craft liminal spaces that act as fabrications of the in-between.

My work examines the complexity of childhood wonder when muddled with grief, illness, and a decaying perception of self. I create worlds of transitory nature through shadow-puppetry, constructed fabric spaces, and papier-mâché scenery that transport my audience to a world between time and space, known and unknown, childhood and beyond. Cardboard, shadow projection, and printed illustration all form atmospheric spaces for my audience to navigate. Through this practice I look at my own lived experiences and revisit the tumultuous nature of my growth, sharing moments with a storybook quality aided by shadow-puppet performance and visual narrative.
