- Public Abstract (ETD)
Anyar is a twelve-year-old girl who gets pregnant after having a fleeting relationship with the first man she ever loved. Consequently, she has to face the reaction of her family and the pressure of the society that she belongs to. This book is an account of her pregnancy, narrated by Anyar herself through an internal dialogue that drives the reader to immerse in her feelings, fears, and insecurities.
The story takes place in the fictional region of Atim, named after the river that runs across it, upon which dwells a nomadic community; its members call themselves as the River People.
