Abstract
My practice examines personal relationships and the importance of caring for one another as both a product of and resistance to the dehumanizing forces of capitalism. In this system, acts of genuine care, connection and empathy have a subversive edge. Domestic spaces and relationships become a refuge from the relentless external pressures. My paintings describe feelings and experiences that are unglamorous and resist easy consumption. The moments in these paintings are neither tragic or blissful - they’re somewhere in the middle and messy. My art practice celebrates these tender moments of care between depleted individuals that help us reclaim our humanity in an inhuman system.
