Concrete paradise

My work explores the emotional connections and interpretations of memory. Memories, which are ever-changing and often filtered and distorted through time, are expressed in my work through the concepts of safety, space, color, mundane objects, and symbolic landscapes. They each evoke a sense of memory and allow me to create a reconstructed and reimagined reality. The exploration of spatial composition with symbolic elements and color expression that synthesize both physical and metaphorical representation is a major study in this body of work. I focus on expressing the visuals and emotions of real, experienced moments in metaphorical abstract notions of time and space. My works, separately and altogether, are in many ways personal meditations, consolations, and a way of coping with hardship. Thus, the naming of my project Concrete Paradise suggests a moment to pause and reflect on one’s time and space, and through my body of work, I hope to deliver a more faithful meaning of ‘safety’ in the margins of reality through emotional interpretation.
