- Public Abstract (ETD)
We tend to think of writers as artists capable of fabricating worlds where characters live and plots take place. They might happen in fantastical worlds in which virgin girls actually ascend to the sky. They might tell the story of a fisherman struggling with becoming too old to do his job. They might revolve around any suburban couple trying to make their best to provide for their children. Even in the latter ⎯a situation most of us could easily relate to⎯ we read the story and think: this is fiction. And we believe so because the author tells us so. We believe them even though we know, at least suspect, that some of what it is been told must have happened to the writer. Or they heard them from someone else.
There is different side of literature that does not hides itself behind a fictional veil; nonfiction writing tries to tell stories as they actually occurred. Crucigramas (Crossword puzzles) is book that appeals to literary and even journalism resources to tell personal stories and essays.
