- Public Abstract (ETD)
In this paper, I will reflect on my filmmaking journey at the University of Iowa. I have directed and produced four short films and a five-episode web series, along with other projects such as an experimental hybrid short film, a feature-length script, and a short script divided into three sections. The four short films will be discussed here.
I will begin by exploring what inspires me as a filmmaker and the themes that interest me. It is always about narrative and story driven situations. The beauty of film to me is to connect to the story, seeing the actors taking on the roles and making it their own. That’s why working with actors is my favorite part of the filmmaking process.
Then, I will reflect on each of my films, discussing their sources of inspiration, the production process, and what happened in post-production.
Additionally, I will touch on my background in architecture, drawing connections between the third and seventh arts. I will examine how my technical knowledge of architectural design has influenced my approach to filmmaking.
Finally, I will conclude by discussing where I see my current path leading me and what this journey has taught me.
