Abstract
This written thesis is an accompaniment to I’ll Make it a Home, a visual body of work by Harper Folsom. The work merges fine art techniques in printmaking and hand papermaking with imagery and materials pulled from childhood. It is about the comingling of memories between family members, and the tender recollection of childhood, not so far removed from the present as initially thought. It is about the artist’s own memories morphing into family history—communal, multi-generational memories living beside each other, happening all at once. The thesis was presented as a site-specific installation in a community gathering space in downtown Iowa City.
