It would be simple to call my project "a recovery story" or a "comeback narrative" or a "confessional memoir." Those titles are concise descriptions of what I'm doing, but they don't fit neatly. I don't aspire to confess or tell a story that's been told before. This is a manuscript about the over medication of America's youth, the misdiagnosis of teenagers and the inadequacies of the mental health system. That's the roof of the house. What you'll find beneath the ceiling is the bulk of the book--how I navigate through various traumas, a hell imposed on me by my own foolish decisions and the professionals tasked with fixing me. It's a story of broad relevance told through the lens of a survivor.
