SPACE-TIME, SPACE-LIME: a reproduction of my experience in intermedia

Driven by an insistence to raise awareness of certain perspectives and a sincere desire for art as an experience, the core of my practice is invested in sound, space, and the body. I am interested in sound and sound art in all its capacities as a medium. I am interested in how our bodies resonate with frequencies of sound, how this can affect our mood, or even impact productivity. How sound is used as a tool or sounds state as it is in a state of becoming. My work examines different kinds of space including physical, electrical, conceptual, institutional and the space between the broadcaster and audience.

This thesis is written documentation of my research interests and body of work at the conclusion of my first two years as an M.A. candidate in the Intermedia program at the School of Art and Art History. Intermedia has historically been recognized as the first interdisciplinary, non-media specific M.F.A. program in the country. Ironically, this thesis is organized by artistic medium, emphasizing my sound, radio, installation, film/video work, collaborative projects and community engagement.

This includes work done in collaboration or with support from the Stanley Museum of Art, Public Space One, KRUI 89.7 FM, graduate students from Film and Video Production, Dance, Music, and Art, and the 2019 Intermedia visiting artist for Intermedia Jax Deluca. This thesis documents a conceptual art practice that emphasizes the body socially, and between media such as sound, radio, performance and video.
