- Public Abstract (ETD)
"Seven More Wonders (Love, Dana)" is an art installation comprised of works in conversation with the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. My intention is to address the concepts of loss, memory, vulnerability, and hope all within the context of the common experiences of those who experience PTSD or Complex PTSD and the frequently attendant mental illnesses.
In this installation, there are seven interrelated pieces: a wall piece, a handmade book, a lamp, a set of nine small images, a set of four prints, a sculpture in the shape of a room, and a digital work intended to be projected onto handmade paper. Each of these pieces is a multi-media artwork. The techniques used across the entire project (though not necessarily in each individual piece) are: hand papermaking, creative writing, painting, drawing, photography, letterpress printing, bookbinding, sculpture, and digital image-making.
The concept of the installation is supported by research into The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and into the nature of trauma and the possibilities of healing from it.
