- Public Abstract (ETD)
This study investigated factors that affected dental students' geographic preferences to continue their training after dental school. The students were surveyed, which included: 1. Demographics, 2. Knowledge and Perceptions of Prosthodontics, 3. Factors that affect interest in states to work in, 4. Main factors to take into consideration when choosing a state, 5. Main reasons for being interested in prosthodontics. The survey was emailed to students via REDCap software to students’ emails. With a response rate of 64%, results showed that married individuals are most likely to pursue the carrier of prosthodontics. Students felt confident in sharing their career plans with other people and individuals who say yes to specializing in prosthodontics vary from one individual’s marital status to another.
Married individuals record the highest counts of specializing in the field. This can be assumed that they are settled in their life; thus, it can be concluded that work environment, proximity to family, work flexibility, promotions, creativity on the job, pay, responsibilities, relationship with supervisor, and personal interest greatly influence an individual’s work location.
