- Public Abstract (ETD)
Fragmentation, both in text and image, takes center stage in this creative thesis, serving as a symbolic representation of the fractured nature of my memory and psyche, both during and after experiencing trauma. The narrative told utilizes fragmented textual writing and delves into the profound impact of personal, generational, and familial narratives, tracing their origins to the unraveling threads of a pivotal traumatic event—my childhood experience of sexual assault—and continuing to unfold with the traumatic nature of immigration. These events have left emotional knots deeply embedded within me, which subsequently became the catalysts for their expression, finding tangible forms in both visual art and written texts. This thesis serves as evidence and reflection of my twofold journey and of a persistent quest for answers through making and writing.
