- Public Abstract (ETD)
Xeroxed serves as a case study of the relationship between my twin brother, Jared, and myself. Many times throughout our lives, we have been asked two questions. The first typically being, how do you tell us apart? With the follow up question of, what is it like to be a twin? I can’t help but feel these questions stem from a place of curiosity. People are fascinated with twins. But when asked these questions, I find it hard to answer them adequately. Through thirteen weekly self reflective prompts, we each explore our individual thoughts and opinions regarding the prompts without contact or conversation. These responses, which include short writings and images made from photographs taken by each of us, will then be paired together for the viewer to compare.
The goal of this work is two fold. The first is to serve as an examination of the similarities and differences between Jared and I, with the second being to explore ideas of relationship, personality, and comparisons through the lens of visual design. The results from this study are displayed to the viewer in such a way that it acts as a pseudo answer to those two questions that have permeated our lives.
