- Public Abstract (ETD)
Do I have ten thousand limes? No, but I can scrawl the number and the citrus is half there. Do I want the letter A to sled down a hill? Done, bent in birch. Do I want two rooms instead of just one? Here’s a digital projection that, for a moment, duplicates the sink and kitchenette, the blur of running water. The layers of letterforms, lemons, webpages, and strings work to create an aesthetics of infrastructural misuse and reinvention, a “making-do” in the most basic sense. What I’m after are the sparks when the word balloon rubs up against a pile of breadcrumbs. It’s all seams. It’s all double-time and decoy. The cloud made of rain brushing up against the cloud made of overheating servers. This thesis is an exploration of what catches.
