Abstract
The use of small animal preclinical trials to evaluate medical research innovations has played a significant role in several branches of medicine, including radiation oncology [1]. However, only recently small animal radiotherapy platforms have been developed to better represent conformal treatment deliveries that are used during radiation therapy [2]. There is growing interest to explore highly heterogeneous spatial and temporal dose delivery to selectively target tumor radio-sensitivity based on treatment assessment techniques primarily with molecular imaging. Before initiating clinical trials on various delivery strategies it will become imperative to collect evidence from animal experiments [2].
