Abstract
Presented is a reply to E. Gussmann's review (see LLBA 20/4, 8606223) of Rubach's Cyclic and Lexical Phonology. The Structure of Polish (Dordrecht: Foris, 1984). Some detailed issues raised by Gussmann are addressed, specifically the Polish rules of lower & coronal palatalization. More global issues addressed include the adequacy of morphological structure in the original analysis, rule globality, & the behavior of borrowings. Gussmann's proposed analysis of etymological borrowings in Polish is discussed & errors are pointed out. 8 References. B. Annesser Murray
