Abstract
We have re-examined the Voyager 1 and 2 planetary radio astronomy radio emission data in light of new magnetic field models. A previous study based on earlier models [Genova and Aubier, 1985] indicated that an apparent offset (∼70° measured at the orbit of Io) exists between the instantaneous Io flux tube and the source region of Jovian decametric radiation (DAM). Our new survey indicates that no such offset is necessary based on more recent magnetic field models. In addition, examples of DAM that are probably due to 2nd harmonic gyroemission were observed, as well as emission that may be due to mechanisms other than the cyclotron maser instability.
