Abstract

With an Electronic Health Record, every healthcare event will be documented using standard terms in computerized systems. The purpose of this article is three-fold: To review the contributions of nurses in establishment of the EHR, to cite the advantages to nursing of using standardized nursing languages in EHRs, and to discuss the need to collaborate with software vendors to ensure that software solutions include standardized nursing languages.
