The integer programming formulation of clustering problems are presented. Although a number of papers have been published on clustering analysis problems and their applications in pattern recognition, the integer programming aspect has not been emphasized. The importance of this aspect lies in the existence of a rapidly developing integer programming and combinatorial theory which can be applied in cluster analysis. Some of this theory's applications resulted in the development of the algorithms presented.
