Abstract
There is considerable work underway to find innovative solutions that address persistent human resource challenges in health care (Begley, Cipriano, Nelson, & the American Nurses Association [ANA], 2020). The framework helps nurse leaders to intentionally connect their decisions to the values outlined in the nursing profession's code of ethics. Case Scenario: Application of an Ethical Framework for Human Resource Allocation to Virtual Nursing You are the CNO of a medical center in a large health system and have implemented a system-led, board-supported, virtual nurse (VN) pilot focused on sepsis in one of your Emergency Departments (EDs). Due to the success of this program, you are now being asked to include sepsis screening for all seven EDs in the health system 24/7 in the VN model without additional budgetary resources.
