Abstract

The shape, width, and location of the 16-MeV resonances in the 𝛼-particle energy spectrum from the Li6⁢(Li6, 𝛼)⁢Be8 reaction were found to be a function of the angle taken by the breakup fragments in the subsequent decay of the Be8. This was caused by the long-range electrostatic interaction between the 𝛼 particle and the breakup particles.
