Brachial Plexus Neuritis Following Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus Vaccination
Female Patient, Vol.32(12), p.47
12/01/2007
Abstract
Sung and Kennedy present a case of brachial plexus neuritis to occur following administration of the HPV vaccine. They report a case in which a woman developed brachial plexus neuritis after receiving her second injection of the quadrivalent HPV vaccine. They conclude that while they cannot definitively attribute the brachial plexus neuritis in this instance to the administration of the quadrivalent HPV vaccination, the timing of symptoms (and reports of brachial plexus neuritis following administration of other vaccinations) is cause for consideration. Given the concern about recurrent brachial plexus neuritis symptoms with subsequent vaccination and lack of literature to guide therapy, this patient was advised not to receive her third quadrivalent HPV vaccination.
