Abstract

A pediatric bone marrow transplant (BMT) patient with cytomegalovirus (CMV) pneumonia is reported. The diagnosis was made with flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL). The use of BAL in diagnosing CMV pneumonitis in an immunocompromised child after BMT is discussed.
