Abstract

Two major genes have been associated with susceptibility to breast and ovarian cancer: breast cancer susceptibility gene 1 (BRCA1) and breast cancer susceptibility gene 2 (BRCA2). The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genetic mutations are clearly implicated in the pathogenesis of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
