Abstract
Benefits from urban vegetation could address urban challenges, but we know little about this potential globally. In this issue of One Earth, Richards et al. evaluate varying contributions of urban vegetation worldwide. Here, I discuss progress required to tailor the deployment of vegetation considering individual urban contexts for optimal outcomes.
