Abstract
The set-up and application of hierarchy-mapping process models for conceptual design can significantly enhance the divergence and creativity of the function inference and solving process. However, it makes the conceptual solutions hard to be generated because of the lack of a computational methodology. The paper adopted the correlation matrix to describe the design information and presented conceptual design plan generation algorithm based on function-effect-principle modle. The method firstly employs matrix-based algorithm to optimize the solution space to obtain nesting matrix, then search nesting matrix to generate candidate conceptual design plan. The design of " nail gun" is used to verify the proposed algorithm.
