Abstract
A family of kolovane and norkolovane diterpenoids 6–14 has been isolated from leaves of the tropical tree Casearia corymhosa. These structures have been assigned based on data provided by various spectroscopic techniques, including a variety of 2D nmr experiments. Each of these nine compounds contains an unusual, highly oxidized C ring that may be viewed as a protected dialdehyde; the norkolovanes contain an additional aldehyde group as well. © 1991, American Chemical Society.
