Damascus as an Example
Southern humanities review, Vol.Cultural Memoir, pp.33-39
2013
Abstract
Merrill talks about the speech of the minister, which began in welcoming delegates and students to a conference on the role of travel literature in a cross-cultural dialogue with a denunciation of American foreign policy. He was in the front row of the Virtual University, in the basement of the Supreme Council for Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, marveling at the minister's change in demeanor. The conference was titled Damascus as an Example, and the Syrian students believed that their participation in the workshop was predicated on their providing an audience for the scholars, who nodded as the minister extolled the virtues of fostering dialogue between two peoples to seek knowledge and understanding.
