Abstract
Recognizing depression in older adults can be difficult as it may present differently than it does in younger people, & treatment options may need to be adjusted to deal with the physiological changes inherent to age. The authors address the recognition & treatment of depression in older adults & also propose a new diagnosis of dispiritedness, a feeling of being in low spirits, which can lead to major depression. 50 References.
