Examines the possibility of the systematic engineering of vocal fold tissues. Notes that all other musical sound sources are shaped from engineered materials. Discusses the methods of engineering vocal fold tissues, the application of these techniques to therapy and the ethical and artistic implications of using engineered vocal folds for non-therapeutic "improvements."
