Abstract
Social work students are increasingly placed in public libraries to meet community, staff, and patron needs. However, we know little about the effects of social work students on libraries. The study aimed to understand if social work generalist practicum students at public libraries improved staff well-being and perceptions of social work collaborations. Using pretest-posttest survey data from five libraries, we found improved psychological empowerment and efficacy in whole-person librarianship. Burnout was moderate, and resilience and attitudes were high at both time points. Findings suggest that social work collaborations can positively impact library staff.
