Abstract
Case studies of elementary students who are extremely talented in mathematics illustrate a series of principles for educating gifted youths. Parents of such talented youngsters may have to advocate vigorously to ensure that educational accommodations are made. Objective information, such as that obtained from diagnostic testing, can be used in the planning process. The challenge is to find a match between the child's abilities and the curriculum, while balancing academic, social, and physical activities.
